NEW SAUSAGE RANGE SCORES A GOLDEN ‘HIGH FIVE’
Award-winning Blacker Hall Farm Shop, at Calder Grove, near Wakefield, has struck gold with a completely new range of mouth-watering, speciality sausages.
The special-recipe Pork with Sweet Chilli, Lamb & Mint and Pork with Lemon & Country Herbs ‘bangers’ had no sooner been launched by the family-run farm shop, than they were scooping prestigious Gold Awards at a national butchers’ convention.
All three new sausages received the top awards in the MeatTrades Journal-sponsored event for all UK independent butchers at the National Exhibition Centre (NEC), in Birmingham. Two further types of traditional Yorkshire Prime Pork Sausages from Blacker Hall also took Gold Awards – to earn the farm shop a ‘high five‘ celebration.

Now the new Golden Range of sausages, which are all made at the farm shop using the finest meat reared on Blacker Hall’s own family farm or by neighbouring farms, are available for the first time to all Blacker Hall customers.
Edward Garthwaite, managing director of Blacker Hall Farm shop, said: “This is a great result for everyone at Blacker Hall. There were over 250 entries from butchers right across the UK, so the evaluation standards required to achieve the Gold Awards are the highest in the land.
“Good quality sausages made with prime meat can make really delicious meals in so many different ways, such as in casseroles, toad-in-the-hole, and even with pasta dishes or cooked with vegetables. They don’t just have to be used for hot dogs or with fry-ups.
“We are very confident that our customers will really enjoy our new range of sausages and we will be looking at adding even more new recipes and choices in future.”
Blacker Hall Farm Shop on Branch Road (1 mile from M1 junction 39) offers a vast selection of locally-produced fresh and cooked meat, freshly-baked bread from its own bakery, fresh vegetables, dairy products, pickles, preserves, farm made ice-cream and much more.
