Seasonal Produce
IN SEASON AND LOCALLY GROWN
January
is a hugely exciting month at Blacker Hall as we have so much fresh and
locally grown produce available, particularly for winter eating.
Meat and poultry is
generally in plentiful supply all year round, and our butchers’
expertise ensures a good seasonal variation is available. Roast
dinners, grilling, casseroles, and quick meals are often the order of
the day at this time of year and the butchery offering reflects this
well.
This year Blacker Hall won the award for the best butcher in the UK.
The awarding body was the UK Farm Retailers’ and Markets Association
(FARMA) and they recognized the expertise and passion of the butchery,
the excellent product range and the locality of the sourcing. Not to
mention the numerous awards for products including bacon, sausages,
gammon, pork and beef.
Or try an award-winning quiche heated with our NEW Winter coleslaw available from the Delicatessen counter.
Everything you need for a delicious Yorkshire winter meal!
Enjoy Locally Grown Vegetables
We are working closely with local vegetable growers to ensure we always
have the freshest selection of local produce. John Darwin at
Hoylandswaine near Barnsley and David Westwood of Wakefield are
harvesting for us every day to keep your vegetables fresh for longer.
Local vegetables in season include a wide selection of greens and
brassicas; purple sprouting broccoli, leeks, swede, beetroot and
celeriac. We also have forced rhubarb in stock.
Enjoy lots of roots and greens, packed full of vitamins; beetroot, carrots, parsnips.
See the weekly seasonal evening menu in The Barn restaurant.
